The vote of dictator #FidelCastro's Constitutional maneuver which aimed at the discarding of the #VarelaProject and the perpetuation of the failed #SocialistSystem in #Cuba, by manipulating its realization as a dignified and categorical response to the demands and threats of imperialist #U.S. government was approved by 98.97 % of the vote. According to a #BBC reporter several of his subsequent interviews in the island showed that many citizens had felt pressured to sign the government petition. And that is an indisputable fact, if we consider that there is only one party in Cuba; the total censorship of information contrary to or unwanted by the regime is impassable; and the totalitarian system of #repression and #espionage makes #Cubans behave obediently, for confusion, for convenience, for apathy, for commitment, for fear, for double standards, or for corruption. Moreover, although the regime distorted the Varela Project, they did not dare to publish it and make it known to the people, so that in front of their ignorance of the project democratic proposal, when voting on the amendments to the #Constitution, many were led to believe, that they were protecting themselves from a possible imperialistic aggression; and others simply were inclined to perform the farce.
